About

Art has been a constant in much of my life. I am a twelve year member of the Friends of the Raclin Murphy Museum of Art board of directors at the University of Notre Dame. Now, Post President, I was the acting President as the museum relocated into its new structure on campus.
I am a surgical nurse; however, in May of 2023, I obtained a second degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Simultaneously, I raised three children with my husband, volunteered excessively and worked part time in an outpatient surgery center for two and a half years. Most recently, I was the “Art in the Studio” instructor at Prairie Vista Elementary School facilitating a program to enrich elementary students lives with art. I co-developed this program with a peer, as PTO executive board members, in 2011.
I was raised in Indianapolis, with my brother, by a single mom. I was taught to understand the stability and importance of a stable career. As a student at DePauw University, I took elective painting courses, acknowledging that a career must take precedence over my love for the arts. At the age of forty, I decided I would return to work to further my education in the Arts. As a Merit Scholar, in 2022 I obtained a second degree in Fine Arts. My artistic interests concentrate in that of Ceramics, Materials and Fiber Studies and Art History.

I feel passionate in regards to the arts, as well as their presence and accessibility to all walks of life. My wisdom from a multitude of educational, vocational, philanthropic and parental experiences influences my creative process and narrative. My work is honest and vulnerable. Joyfully, my life and activities of daily living continue to inspire and influence my creative process.
